Attending Catskills Halloween

(Look around our site for pix and galleries from previous years! This is Oddly, our mascot.)

Catskills Halloween VIP Tickets are now available! The rest of the event is FREE, but DON’T miss our VIP programming!

Halloween is not only about putting on a costume, it’s about finding the imagination and costume within ourselves.”
–Elvis Duran

They always had Halloween every day. I just turned up the volume.”
-Alice Cooper

We’ve got so much in store! Visit our site often (you’re invited!) – to see the daily updates?

In the meantime, why not sign up for our mailing list to stay in the loop?

We update the website with news and details all the time. Check back often! There IS a lots of parking, though you’ll want to try to come a bit early if you want to park close. There’s entertainment all weekend long. The Blackthorne Pub will be happy to welcome you, and will feature live Halloween cover bands both nights!

Don’t forget to call the Blackthorne Resort at 518-634-2541 to get your room!

Attending the Halloween Vendor and Oddities Market can be a thrilling experience! Here are some tips and tricks to make the most of your visit:

  1. Plan Ahead: We run all weekend, from about three on Friday to about 5 on Sunday!

That means that we’ve got LOTS for you to see and do. It could take the entire weekend just to see our vendors, much less check out the shows, the Haunted House, the activities and contests. Be sure to check the website for updates and details, as well!

We advise checking out the schedule before you come by. If you’d like, consider getting the VIP Perks; they’ll let you do even more things. (VIP Perks go onsale in early August..)

If you have questions, be sure to ask us.
  2. Dress Up: Embrace the spirit of Halloween and dress up! Whether it’s goth, steampunk, or your favorite fandom, showing off your costume can be part of the fun. (And, of course, if you’re already Dracula, the Mummy, a Werewolf, etc., then enjoy the fact that…for once…you DON’T have to wear a costume!)

As we always specify, costumes are OPTIONAL. Only wear them if you want to! But don’t be afraid to dress up! And yes…you can wear costumes at any age. They’re not just for kids!
  3. Budget Wisely: There will be a wide array of unique items for sale. Decide how much you want to spend ahead of time to avoid impulse buys. Alternately, save up as much money as you possibly can and buy everything in sight. Halloween comes around far too infrequently for my tastes. The least we can do is live our best Halloween lives.
  4. Support Independent Vendors: The majority of our vendors at the market are independent creators. Purchasing their goods supports their craft and the overall community, as well as helping artists and makers. Support homemade, handmade, and made-for-you!
  5. Stay Hydrated and Nourished: With all the excitement, don’t forget to drink water and eat. Food vendors are also available. You can eat at the Resort, or Tom’s Diggitty Dogs, Wright Cellars, TAJ Fine Indian Cuisine, and more!
  6. Participate in Events: From costume parades to absinthe tastings, there are various activities to enjoy. Participate to fully immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit1.
  7. Take Photos: Capture the memories! But always ask for permission before taking photos of vendors or attendees in costume.
  8. Network: If you’re a creator or enthusiast, this is a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals. Bring business cards if you have them.
  9. Check for Accommodations: If you’re traveling, look into staying at the Blackthorne Resort or nearby hotels to enjoy the full experience1.
  10. Stay Updated: Follow the market’s social media for any last-minute changes or announcements.

Remember, the market is not just about shopping; it’s a celebration of the Halloween culture and community. Enjoy the atmosphere, the people, and the creativity that surrounds you!
